, the newest member of the fleet is officially “home.” It’s not registered, insured, inspected, I haven’t checked the lights, it doesn’t have seat belts, there’s a dime-sized hole in the roof probably from an antenna, but wow. I love it.
A repeat of the details: 1961 Ford F100, 292 V8, 4 speed manual, 4wd w/low range, 36,000 miles (yes, really). I think this rig deserves a full photo shoot so I can document its condition on Day 1. I don’t intend to change a thing, just keep it up and drive it.
I’ve been in contact with the Fire Dept that owned this truck, and they gave me some additional history. Basically, it was a municipal-owned truck in VT its whole life, and genuinely has 36,000 miles on it. See below:

Instead of plugging it you should put an antenna in it’s place. Probably an NMO mount or something.
Get your Ham license, or a CB.

Got to love those old fire department trucks - we have a 91 F350 that only has 12k on the clock with my volunteer department!

I actually have a CB antenna I could put in there, that’s a good idea. I have a radio... somewhere.

Thanks! Yeah, pretty much. My wife is highly supportive, but even she is rolling her eyes at me right now. I can’t wait to actually drive it around... stupid re-salted roads. I’ve taken it only to the nearest gas station, at night, once. Woo. Just WAIT.
